Vyne Reader Spotlight: Amber Holley

Name: Amber Holley

St. Louis, MO

Roles you play in life: George and Tina’s daughter; Carl’s fiancée; Rob’s sister; Quinton and Malcolm’s aunt; Board Member of LA’s BEST Friends; Huffington Post blogger; paid (and unpaid) counsel to many

Hobbies: Creating fashion and home décor scrapbooks; drinking and learning about (while drinking) wine

Education: BA in Economics and Political Science from Stanford University; JD from Harvard Law School

What is the last movie you saw?: In the theater, Why Did I get Married, Too.  On TV, probably something on Lifetime.

What is your favorite TV show?: I’m really liking Nurse Jackie, Modern Family and Parks and Recreation right now

Shuffle your iPod – what’s the first song that comes up?: Statistically, it’d have to be something by Jamiroquai

What is your favorite travel destination?: Mexico.  I’ve got a trip coming up this month to Riviera Maya.

What beauty product can’t you live without?: Blush — I love Cargo in Rome and NARS in Super Orgasm.

Finish this sentence, “To feel more centered I…”: Workout

Who is your celebrity fashion inspiration?: I rarely disagree with anything Eva Mendes or Kerry Washington puts on.

What is your favorite restaurant?:
So hard! I’m genuinely conflicted! LOL.  Asia de Cuba is amazingly flavorful and melt-in-your mouth good, however, the mere mention of The Griddle’s “Mom’s French Toast” causes me to salivate.  Outside of LA, on a recent trip to Chicago, a friend introduced me to Vivo in the West Loop, which was tops!

What words do you live by?: “Of those to whom much is given, much is required.”

  1. Thanx, once again, for sharing. It is always good motivation to see women of color doing well. I will send this to a friend of mine who is in the dissertation phase of her PhD and experiencing a little lag. Understandably.
