Great wines do not have to cost a lot of money. Here are a few of our favorites — and all are under $15.
Ménage à Trois Red: This red is not as risqué as it sounds. A beautiful blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet and Merlot, it is easy to drink and full of ripe fruity flavors. Ménage à Trois Red can be found many places for $12 or under. As a note, though there is a Ménage à Trois White, we recommend sticking with the red.
Charles Shaw Cabernet Sauvignon: Known best as “2 Buck Chuck,” this Trader Joe’s exclusive brand can be found for as little as $1.99 per bottle in California or $2.99 in other states. Though we’re featuring the Cab, Charles Shaw also creates other varietals including Chardonnay, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. All are quite mild in flavor and an excellent quality for the money.
Columbia Winery Cellermaster’s Riesling: If you or someone you know is not a wine fan, Columbia Winery Cellermaster’s Riesling is the perfect wine for you/them. Sweet, balanced, and fruity, this riesling is fantastic by itself or paired with spicy Thai food, dessert, or cheese. Though we found it online at or around $10, search your local grocery stores or wine shops for prices as low as $6.
Kendall-Jackson Vitner’s Reserve Chardonnay: At under $15 per bottle, Kendall-Jackson is one of the most widely distributed inexpensive wines, found at most restaurants and wine retailers. This chardonnay is smooth and easy to drink. One online reviewer describes flavors of the 2006 vintage as “buttery-fruit aroma, with hints of oak.”
